Small Businesses, Corporate Leaders and Government Officials Honored
WASHINGTON –Two small business contractors, one from Tennessee and the other from New York, were today named the National Prime Contractor of the Year and National Subcontractor of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration at a luncheon held at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center as part of National Small Business Week.
Small business owners, corporate leaders, government officials and volunteers from across the country are in Washington, D.C. for the two-day conference.
“During National Small Business Week, we recognize the small businesses, corporate leaders and government officials that aided in providing a record-setting $80 billion in goods and services to the federal government last year,” said SBA Administrator Steven C. Preston. “It’s because of their leadership and contributions to the $314 billion federal marketplace that small businesses continue to grow, create jobs and fuel the nation’s economy.”
The Small Business Prime Contractor and Small Business Subcontractor of the Year awards honor small businesses that have provided the government and industry with outstanding goods and services either as prime contractors or as subcontractors. The recipients are:
• Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year, Jeffrey D. Fletcher, President of Ecotone Services, Inc. of Dover, TN.
• Small Business Subcontractor of the Year, Larry Sala, President and CEO of Anaren, Inc. of East Syracuse, NY.
These and other award winners recognized today represent a diverse cross-section of American small businesses. They provide a wide array of services to the government and commercial marketplace ranging from the manufacturing of opaque armor and bullet proof glass for construction vehicles in Iraq and Afghanistan, to historic preservation construction projects for museums and hotels.
The contracting awards recognize these businesses and organizations for their commitment to providing contracting and subcontracting opportunities to small, women-owned and small disadvantaged businesses. (download PDF)
